Coughs, Colds and Flu

You Matter We Care

The majority of these are due to viruses and therefore antibiotics do not cure them. Please follow these remedies for the above:

1. Rest.
2. Fluid Intake at 2-3 litres per day.
3. Temperature Control: Paracetamol 500mgs x two tablets 4-6 hourly - loose cool clothing.
4. Sore Throat: Aspirin Gargles, Merocaine Lozenges or Chloraseptic throat spray.
5. Runny nose/catarrh: Sudafed Capsules or Elixir.
6. Cough: Benylin or Tixylix. Inhalation with Eucalyptus, Friars Balsam etc,. for at least 10 minutes preferably 3 times a day.

Antibiotics are of no benefit and may indeed make matters worse.
